Department of Health and Human Services Rural Community Health Support Program (Estimated Open: May 1; Exp. June 24, 2026)

Purpose

The purpose of the Rural Community Health Support Program cooperative agreement is to develop, deliver, and coordinate nationally available technical assistance that supports community-based organizations and rural health stakeholders serving rural populations to improve and expand delivery and access to quality care for rural communities.  The program is overseen by the Health Resources and Services Administration within the Department of Health and Human Services.

Eligible Entities

The following types of organizations are eligible to apply for the grant:

  • Independent school districts
  • Special district governments
  • Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
  • Private institutions of higher education
  • City or township governments
  • County governments
  • Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
  • Nonprofits with or without a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
  • For profit organizations, including small businesses
  • Native American tribal governments (with or without Federal recognition)
  • State governments
